Hey you,
Yes you… pretend i’m talking to just you and only you right now. You could be the only one reading this, so who knows maybe I wrote it just for you?
Today i’m going to talk about inspiration and motivation, the difference between the two and how you could benefit from being both inspired and motivated naturally.
Many old school motivational speakers “Motivate” and try to get you “pumped up” to do what you really want to do but for some reason never do? Doesn’t make much sense does it? Why do we even have motivational speakers? Why aren’t we naturally motivated? why don’t we do what we love and make a huge positive impact on the world because it’s what we live for?
I, like you have probably had a few of the same questions.
Motivation is defined as “The State of BEING Motivated”
Notice I put being all all caps! there’s a reason for that.
The only reason you would need to get motivated is to do something you don’t want to do.
Let me say that again and be sure to read this twice…
“THE only reason you would need to get motivated is to do something you don’t want to do.”
So… the question is “What don’t you want to do?” and “Why?”
Chances are if you really look at the situation on a deeper level you will find that you are trying to get motivated to do something you don’t want to do in order to get a result you want.
Let’s take an example, You want to have a nicer home, give your kids a better life and be able to travel and vacation with your kids more so they can see more of the world.
Solution: Call leads after work, spend time trying to make extra money in a side business or something like that.
When really you break it down it’s not about what you are doing, it’s about the outcome… it’s about living that lifestyle not calling leads or building a side business and wearing yourself out.
Motivation is a thing of the past, it’s a washed up business model. It’s the PC and inspiration is the new Mac.
Inspiration on the other hand is a totally different story.
Inspiration is an interesting word. It is literally the opposite of “expiration” meaning to end. So inspiration means to begin or grow in my mind. Motivation to do things you don’t want to do get’s you closer to your expiration whereas when you are inspired you are naturally motivated and you are growing, evolving and beginning every day.
Inspiration is “In-Spirit” it means to be in your spirit, to be connected to something that you are passionate about. Connected to something that you feel driven by and are emotionally attached too.
Inspiration is the spiritually evolved motivation if you really look at it.
So getting back to my post, I like to talk about inspiration, being inspired and being connected to a huge purpose and vision!
Inspiration is something that stirs your spirit, that excites you! that keeps you up at night! That when you do it doesn’t feel like work and time FLIES.
Inspired people “do what they love” instead of decide to “love what they do” because they don’t settle.
When you are inspired you are naturally motivated, you are connected to something that gives you energy and fulfills you in so many ways.
Whatever you are inspired by, Do it now.
Don’t wait another day.
Stop trying to get motivated to make money and live “that life” and instead chase your inspirations, the dreams will come to you when you chase your inspirations.
Life works at another level when you are inspired, things happen quicker and you will make more money then working hard and being motivated.
Spend time asking yourself: What inspires me?, What gives me satisfaction and pleasure every time I do it?, What do I love doing?, What do I love being?, What am I most passionate about?
There are always ways to monetize your hobby, skill or inspired passion so don’t worry about that.
Just go after your inspirations and your dreams will chase you.
THAT is the way it works my friends
To a massively abundant, prosperous, INSPIRED and Happy life!
David King

To add to my post, there's nothing “wrong” with motivation… I personally love motivational quotes and stories myself.
But if you are buying the motivational box of crap to get yourself to do things that you hate then you need to rethink it and think about following your inspirations for a change!
Great post David, I totally agree with you brotha, if you NEVER quit you can NEVER fail. Keep on pushing and pushing until you GET THERE!
Rock on,

You're absolutely right dude. Motivation is just getting someone pumped up. Thinking about how many people spend thousands upon thousands of dollars to go “get motivated” for a weekend and then go home to their normal life and go back into the same routine. Why do they choose to do this?
Getting down to what truly inspires you changes the way someone functions at the core level. I feel like when I'm doing things that inspire me, I can wake up at any hour of the day and put in the hours to accomplish something. If I'm merely motivated to do something….that's a different story. I can get pumped up for maybe 15 minutes or so, but then after that I need to get re-motivated.
Maybe it's a double-edged sword in that there needs to be a balance between turning motivation into action and inspiration into action. I think a can of worms can be opened in this and you could dig really deeply about human spirit and what truly causes someone to turn action into results.
Most definitely man, it's a complex subject and it's important to be inspired so that you are naturally motivated… You get a lot more done and enjoy it and make more in the process!
Thanks for your valuable feedback bro!
I am awed and inspired by people LIVING their passion and sharing their gifts with the world. I am inspired by my children and the thousands of young entrepreneurs around the world!
I believe that MOTIVATION – Moves us TO Action and Inspiration is the fire that keeps us in action! I do believe that we need both!

Passion and inspiration is what it's all about…. I agree with you we need both motivation and inspiration and I think that inspiration causes natural motivation.
It's like motivation is an energy drink or caffeine whereas inspiration is just choosing to be healthy and get the vitamins and minerals your body needs. They both work but one is natural and good for you and your body… your body recovers better and you renew your energy whereas the other is more harmful to your body.
I guess inspiration just weighs more on my scale for me!
Thanks for the comment sarah! I love what you are doing so keep it up!!

Hey David…Great post, well thought out and written very well. Hummmm…a 21 yr young Sage!
Happy Birthday! jeff
Thanks Jeff! I appreciate it!
Hi David, Happy Birthday and thanks for sending out your greetings! I just read your post and realize that my days are going super fast because I am doing what I really love doing! I am sharing my passion at a Christian Book store not far from my house. . . . . I believe I have this job as a result of Divine Guidiance as I got the job the day after I picked up the application. I am in my element as my husband likes to say . . . and I feel inspired each and every day to help others find what they are looking for and also get involved with our ministry opportunities for supporting the widows and orphans (around the world)!
Life is great when you do what you absolutely LOVE to do!
Blessings from Colorado!
