in Life Lessons

I am writing this blog post for a friend today because I feel it will help them but I’m also sharing it on my blog because I know there are plenty of people who not only need to hear this information but will benefit extremely from it if they understand it and research it and do some diggin!

In this blog post i’m going to try to jam-pack some life lessons that most people don’t ever learn in their lifetime simply because they never learn from some extraordinary people out there that teach this kind of stuff.

These lessons are worth their weight in gold.

Take these to heart, I’m not writing this blog post because I don’t know them… i’m sharing them with you because I believe they are gold nuggets.

The first lesson that I want to share with you is the Internal/External factor.

* Internal/External Factor -In Life we (most of us) have a HUGE problem and it’s always always ALWAYS outside of us!

Newsflash… it’s not.  Here’s the issue, we think that if we have financial problems it’s our bosses fault.  If we have health problems it’s our doctors fault.  If we have any sort of problem it’s obviously much easier to point your finger and blame it on something but does that help you grow as a person? does that empower you? or does that make you more dependent? True Independence and freedom is the goal (for me at least) and I know for a fact that if I could go back in time and look internally at my problems instead of externally I would be in a much better off spot today.

Your External Life is a printout of your internal thoughts, feelings and beliefs.  Are you not where you want to be externally? then stop looking externally for the answer… it’s in you.  Most times it’s a negative thought, feeling or belief that’s holding us back.  Have you ever thought: “I’m not good enough” or “I’m too young” or “I’m too old” for ___________.

STOP IT.  STOP IT RIGHT NOW! You have no idea how negative these beliefs, thoughts and feelings affect you.

Your Thoughts create your feelings which create your actions which create your results.

So think of it like this… Your thoughts are now physical.   Anything you think happens instantly.  Hold yourself to that and start to mold your beliefs, thoughts and feelings to what you want instead of what you don’t want and you will see a change in your external life.  Everything external is coming from something internal.

You think being pessimistic or having limiting negative beliefs don’t mean that much? Keep doing it and see what road it takes you down.

If you are serious and want to grow and get somewhere look internally and fix the belief that say’s “I can’t” to “I can” because success only come’s in CAN’S not can’ts.

* Approval from who? - Who determines how successful you are?

Many many MANY people are looking to be successful.  What is success? Your alive and breathing right? I would say that’s “success” enough.

One thing that I see over and over is people doing something simply because their parents did it or because someone wants them to do it.

When was the last time YOU lived your life for YOU?

This is your life! Live it your way! Do what YOU want to do! Forget them! better yet screw them! Tell them to live their own life and if they want to continue talking to you that they will not “disapprove of you” or transfer negative energy to you with what they want you to do.

One big thing that I used to do that I just recently totally stopped doing was look to “beat others” and get external approval.

None of that matters, you winning is not really winning.  Them telling you “nice job” doesn’t matter and you will NEVER be truly happy until you do what you love and forget about what they think and have to say.  Block them out and do what you love and you will be happy.

Don’t worry about the external results, that will come in it’s time.  Just keep doing what you love and be passionate about it.  The only way you will be truly happy is to do what you love.  If you do something you hate everyday to “get promoted” or impress someone else with your professional degree you will keep spinning your wheels trying to find happiness.

I recently saw “The Shift” by: Wayne Dyer and he explains this really well.  He is an enlightened, happy best-selling author that really “get’s it” so check him out and that movie when you get a chance.

* Fear – Fear absolutely cripples 99 out of 100 people 100 percent of the time.  Fear is something that is always holding us back and reminding us of the failure we were and that we never could achieve that because we never have before.  Notice I said “failure we were” and “couldn’t achieve it because we never have before” talk about the past huh?

Fear is: False Evidence Appearing Real.

Fear is just a feeling, that’s all it is! But once again this feeling is crippling you.

Fear often causes stress too which gets you frustrated and negatively affects your health.  What’s the point of fear?

Feel the fear and do it anyway.  Most times you could be afraid because of what your family or friends might think of you if you are doing this or you are afraid because you’ve never achieved that before and your mind keeps telling you that “you can’t do it.”

If you let your fear control you and your life it will cripple you and put your dreams of running a marathon in a wheelchair.

DON’T Let something that is new or “difficult” in your eyes stop you from taking action and trying it.  Someone has done it before and there is someone that can help you! Don’t give me the excuse that “no one wants to help me” because there are over 6 billion people waiting to help you!

In life what you do should be what you want to do, You should take risks and not regret anything.

Don’t let fear and your negative mindset control you…. When you have a negative thought, feeling or belief come up *SNAP* out of it into a positive belief!

Snap into a positive empowering belief.

When you are doubting your ability you are killing the chance and even idea of it beginning to take form.

Don’t do that!

Watch this video real quick >>>

Notice the millimeter off?

its’ the difference between where you are and where you want to be.

That millimeter is your mindset.

Control your thoughts, feelings and beliefs and then and ONLY then will you have real control of your life and where you are going.

Don’t let that millimeter frustrate you… It just take’s a mindset shift and another try.

One last thing I want to share with you…

* I Failed - So you failed huh? welcome to the success club.

Everyone who is successful failed, it’s inevitable! You literally have to fail in order to become successful regardless of what you want to do!

Look at edison, he “failed” 10,000 times.  But guess what… he didn’t see them as failures, he saw them as 10,000 ways not to successfully not discover the light bulb.

You see… He couldn’t successfully create a light bulb without trying 10,000 times.

He didn’t take those 10,000 unsuccessful attempts to label himself as a failure though… No no no…

He took EVERY SINGLE ONE of them and learned from them.

Every single one, then he created a light bulb.

today you couldn’t read this if it were’nt for light bulbs, you couldn’t flip the switch and turn light on.

You couldn’t use lights, watch tv, go online or have cell phones!

Remember that your “failures” are nothing more than learning lessons as long as you continue to learn from them and discover your true greatness… otherwise you’ll be living the “normal” life like 99% of everyone and let your failure trump you to become just average and never live your dream and this is not you or else you wouldn’t have read this far.

so WAKE UP! you deserve to live a happy, healthy, wealthy, wise, rich, strong and free life already!

Today is the day that you decide to make this shift.  Commit to it and you will make it happen.

To Life success and your wildest dreams fulfilled!

David King,

P.S. Just shift your mindset, by doing that you will change your aim of where you are going just like the golf lesson.  You are sooo close! your mind is the thing that’s getting in your way and saying “i’m so far.”

Mark this day as the day you changed your mindset and negative beliefs to positive ones that support you and empower you to do what’s right for you.

- Internal/External: Thoughts are things, many successful people say it. Our thoughts become our relatity because we constantly act in accordance with out self-concept. This is true for both the conscious and subconscious minds. Both are important and it's important to take care to fill both with the right things. Tony Robbins said that the level of success we stay at is often determined by what we subconsciously have been programmed to think we deserve.

This is a well thought out post David, thank you for sharing it with me. I'm glad I read it.

Regards,
Clinton Skakun

- Approval of others: I agree with this! Instead of letting people who don't want to go anywhere hold you down, seek approval of successful people who, as you said, “get it”. Approval from these people trumps any kind of disapproval from people who don't really understand you or planned for you to control a tradition of poverty or have a “good job.” Most people are too messed up to justify why they do what they do. Most people don't make sense anyways, so seek approval from people who are success-minded and want to see you succeed as well.

-Fear of failure: I have to say personally the number one thing that holds me back the most is fear of failure. Even though I know in my mind that failure is a good thing if we learn from it, it's just really hard to deal with the discomfort and anxiety that is involved in following through. Maybe it's a good idea to create a habit of taking action on things that we are afraid of. I think we have to take life less seriously and just understand that once you make a mistake to put i behind yourself and ask “what did I do right?” and if you can't think of anything you did right, put behind you and go review and rewrite your goals and think about the future instead of the past.

- One millimeter out: This one really made me think and gave me a new window to look out of. In math, when you put the wrong number into a certain formula you come up with a totally different answer, even though the number might have been 1.4 when the correct number to use was 1.5. It could be one little thing that's messing us up. Like saying one word that turns a prospect off and kills your sale or taking one hour every night to read some good books. A good book to read is the Tipping Point, it gives a few examples of how tiny changes can make a major difference in outcome.

Thanks a lot philip! I agree 100% I appreciate the share!

Davidbeking November 17, 2009 at 1:37 pm

Wow! I appreciate the thoughtful comment clinton! it mean's a lot!

I agree with you in that thoughts are things, they are physical and the sooner we realize that the better… same goes for feelings and beliefs which have even more power behind them so make sure to train yourself!

Quick point on the approval of people… In my opinion it doesn't matter what anyone thinks regardless of if they are successful or not.
When you stop caring what everyone thinks and just do your own thing is an important point in your life… Most people think that external approval from successful people will make them happy. It doesn't, trust me… I've tasted it and it's no big deal.
When you are happy you are doing your thing and that's what changes the you which enables you to change the world. Don't look for approval from anyone, not even yourself! just do what you love!

Thanks so much for the comment and share clinton! all this feedback means a lot to me!

Great article David. It's something we need to continue to work on everyday. This should be printed up by everyone to keep as a reminder. Thank You :)

David I'm digging your message hard because I share the same message. You put a lot of great points in one place. I can't add anything that I'm not already preaching on my side of the world lol

However…my only suggestion to anyone who is seeing these for the first time is to print out this post and read it. Break each point out and study one point per day in order to really let a post like this sink in.

You don't just read something like this and then pass it off. This is one of those kinds of posts that can impact the direction of your life however you have to let it sink in, marinate and serve it up in your every day life.

I'm all about growing up with the life of hard knocks but for the right person David this post will be a wake up call. If the right person let's this impact them they can make a huge impact on those around them….and then some.

Much light to you my friend!

I'm hearing what you're sharing my friend.

Thanks so much for the comment and retweet! it means so much!

Splendid Article!- The best thing i've read all day.

“Remember that your “failures” are nothing more than learning lessons as long as you continue to learn from them and discover your true greatness… “

“Many many MANY people are looking to be successful. What is success? Your alive and breathing right? I would say that’s “success” enough.”

Many people do not understand the factors above that's why they quit when they fail.
The Tony Robbins Video was really motivational. I'm going to have to print this article… ;)

Michael S. Copeland November 17, 2009 at 3:38 pm

David,
I think we're on the same wavelength or something! I created a motivational presentation, at least the beginning of one the other day.
the theme of it was that people are inhibited by fear. Fear of taking a step. feat of taking a breath. fear of love. fear of doing what you love. fear of helping others. fear of being successful.

If what you have, or know can help people, then it's UnAmerican to not help them. Do what you do best, people wiill love you for it.

Always remember… Patience is a virtue!

Chris Hughes November 17, 2009 at 3:39 pm

Awesome post dude. I share such a similar thing and I notice when I am talking to some people that they surround themselves with such negative self-talk that they think they'll never be successful.

The Edison failure is just the tip of the iceberg with how many important things have been created from absolute failures. Everyone who is successful has first been a failure, the only difference between those who stayed failures and those who pushed through to become successes is that they looked at it as ways that something didn't work, not as actual failures.

Without edison failing so much, we wouldn't have a lot of the random things he found out during his tests!

This is a post to share with everyone so I've already tweeted it, put it up on facebook and dugg it so I hope that this message gets shared with EVERYONE! It's not just your typical stuff but an actual life changing post. Thank you for that.

Keep up the great work bro,
Chris Hughes

Keep rockin dude!

Davidbeking November 17, 2009 at 4:08 pm

Thanks Michael! being on the same wavelength as you is a good thing because your one impressive guy!

I would say that it's Unhumane not to help them, it's not living your purpose! Doesn't matter where your from if your not giving what you can give best when you have the opportunity you are taking the life out of the world that you give into it!

Davidbeking November 17, 2009 at 4:11 pm

Thanks so much man! It means a lot!

Edison did do some amazing things… the light bulb opened up so many new things for us and 10,000 “failures” was what created all of this AWEsomeness!

Keep rockin bro! :)

MatthewNeer November 17, 2009 at 5:55 pm

A great post today David, this reminds me of a good friend of mine who has always done what his parents have asked him to do. Go to school, even though he hated it. Get a good job so he can work his way up the ladder, even though he hated working. And even study to become an attorney of law because that's what his Mom does, needless to say he has no clue what he truly loves in life.

Every chance I've ever had to empower this guy has fell short. It seems like his head is made of an impenetrable substance that only hears and processes what is expected instead of what is possible. And even though he's seen me have tremendous success being an entrepreneur still has not woke the sleeping giant of success within him I know it will one day because like Tony said, I am certain that he is capable of great things in life, he only needs to see the potential within himself first.

To Your Ultimate Success,
Matthew Neer

I hear ya on that matthew, a lot of people can be stuck in that situation and all they have to do is think for themselves! I'm glad he has a friend like you to help him out and i'm sure he'll eventually be doing what he loves once he figures it out because you are and he'll eventually figure it out.

Thanks for the comment bro!

take care

Thanks David, lovin it, truly! I'm a big fan of Anthony Robbins myself, I got his tape series “Personal Power” a few years ago from a mentor of mine, that was when I first learned the importance of taking control of one's “state” and claiming ownership of ourselves, our feelings, our thoughts, our actions, our direction, and our outcomes. Hope you don't mind if I use the Tony Robbins video on my blog @ http://elainenicol.com I'll retweet your blog as well!
Best,
Laynie

Davidbeking November 20, 2009 at 12:41 am

Thanks for the comment Laynie!

I agree with you, controlling your thoughts, feelings and action are extremely important. They determine where you are going! and If you care about that it's extremely important to notice those things!

Take care!

David

Actually David, rather than post the Tony Robbins video on my blog, I've decided to simply link to YOUR blog, how would you like that? I think it would be a little more tasteful…
