How To Make 2011 Your Best Year Yet

I was thinking today about how 2011 would be different than 2010 and why I would make it different when it dawned on me…

“Nothing Changes When Nothing Changes”

Let me say that again… Nothing changes when nothing changes. If you don’t change your income, business, relationships or life they will not change either. What do you need to change as a person to make those changes you want in your life outside of you?

Everything starts from within, your results are nothing more than a recipe of your thoughts, beliefs, emotions, actions, habits and persistence.

When you change the recipe your end product changes too. Your input is what creates your output.

So here’s EXACTLY what both you and I need to do right away to make 2011 the best year yet.

#1 Stop watching the news, tv, media or any other negative based media or “entertainment”

- This negative input not only wastes your time when you should be focused on serving and improving your life and the lives of others but it creates a negative output as well. This could be anything from tv, to movies and music. Instead replace this stuff with educational books, positive and uplifting music, movies and comedy. There are so many choices so go with the one’s that feed your spirit instead of break it down.

#2 Write Your Commitments DOWN RIGHT NOW. Think it then ink it!

- Don’t create goals this year, that’s what you did last year and how did that go? Commitments are do or die. They are contracts with yourself to commit to the greatness and excellence that you haven’t used in a while but have the ability to when you make a committed decision and stick to that commitment with persistence and consistency.

#3 Be open and willing to serve and give value wherever you can

- Sometimes as entrepreneurs we can get focused on growing the business and increasing leverage and lifetime customer value that we forget about serving and giving value. The more service and value that you provide the more money you will make and the more your business will grow. Don’t be too “high value” that you forget to give value and serve because that’s what got you where you are and that’s what will get you to where you want to be. You never know who is learning and consuming your content online. If you are diligent, persistent and are willing to continue to helping people there is no question in my mind that bigger opportunities and proposals to work with new partners will come your way.

#4 Take Care Of Yourself FIRST.

- Last but not least because this one is truly first and should always come first. Take care of yourself… FIRST. You are high value and a service oriented professional. When you don’t take care of yourself, your health, your fitness, your wealth and your overall well being how do you expect to help other people in those areas? If you want to make a bigger impact then reward yourself and make sure that your needs are met so that you can serve and give more value at an even greater level. Be sure to stay organized, clean and active with your health and fitness this year. You deserve it!

2011 Come’s down to a few things…

Are you willing to change?

Are you committed to that change even when times are tough?

If you answered yes to both of those questions and consistently focus on changing what you know you need to and staying committed to those positive changes in your life 2011 will in fact be your best year yet.

Are you Inspired or Motivated?

Hey you,

Yes you… pretend i’m talking to just you and only you right now. You could be the only one reading this, so who knows maybe I wrote it just for you?

Today i’m going to talk about inspiration and motivation, the difference between the two and how you could benefit from being both inspired and motivated naturally.

Many old school motivational speakers “Motivate” and try to get you “pumped up” to do what you really want to do but for some reason never do? Doesn’t make much sense does it? Why do we even have motivational speakers? Why aren’t we naturally motivated? why don’t we do what we love and make a huge positive impact on the world because it’s what we live for?

I, like you have probably had a few of the same questions.

Motivation is defined as “The State of BEING Motivated”

Notice I put being all all caps! there’s a reason for that.

The only reason you would need to get motivated is to do something you don’t want to do.

Let me say that again and be sure to read this twice…

“THE only reason you would need to get motivated is to do something you don’t want to do.”

So… the question is “What don’t you want to do?” and “Why?”

Chances are if you really look at the situation on a deeper level you will find that you are trying to get motivated to do something you don’t want to do in order to get a result you want.

Let’s take an example, You want to have a nicer home, give your kids a better life and be able to travel and vacation with your kids more so they can see more of the world.

Solution: Call leads after work, spend time trying to make extra money in a side business or something like that.

When really you break it down it’s not about what you are doing, it’s about the outcome… it’s about living that lifestyle not calling leads or building a side business and wearing yourself out.

Motivation is a thing of the past, it’s a washed up business model. It’s the PC and inspiration is the new Mac.

Inspiration on the other hand is a totally different story.

Inspiration is an interesting word. It is literally the opposite of “expiration” meaning to end. So inspiration means to begin or grow in my mind. Motivation to do things you don’t want to do get’s you closer to your expiration whereas when you are inspired you are naturally motivated and you are growing, evolving and beginning every day.

Inspiration is “In-Spirit” it means to be in your spirit, to be connected to something that you are passionate about. Connected to something that you feel driven by and are emotionally attached too.

Inspiration is the spiritually evolved motivation if you really look at it.

So getting back to my post, I like to talk about inspiration, being inspired and being connected to a huge purpose and vision!

Inspiration is something that stirs your spirit, that excites you! that keeps you up at night! That when you do it doesn’t feel like work and time FLIES.

Inspired people “do what they love” instead of decide to “love what they do” because they don’t settle.

When you are inspired you are naturally motivated, you are connected to something that gives you energy and fulfills you in so many ways.

Whatever you are inspired by, Do it now.

Don’t wait another day.

Stop trying to get motivated to make money and live “that life” and instead chase your inspirations, the dreams will come to you when you chase your inspirations.

Life works at another level when you are inspired, things happen quicker and you will make more money then working hard and being motivated.

Spend time asking yourself: What inspires me?, What gives me satisfaction and pleasure every time I do it?, What do I love doing?, What do I love being?, What am I most passionate about?

There are always ways to monetize your hobby, skill or inspired passion so don’t worry about that.

Just go after your inspirations and your dreams will chase you.

Pig headed determination is Inspiration

I have a story that I want to share with you today, it’s a story that I came across and really loved so I want to share it with you here… hopefully you benefit from it.

Here is the story:

“One day a farmer’s pig fell down into a well. The animal squealed for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally the farmer decided the pig was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn’t worth it to retrieve the pig.

The farmer invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the pig realized what was happening and squealed horribly. Then, to everyone’s amazement he quieted down.

PAUSE STORY: Before continuing, I want you go guess what happens next… what does the pig do? the ability to put yourself in the pig’s situation and solve the problem without continuing is valuable so stop reading this and do this exercise now.

Answer: What would I do if I were the pig to get out of this situation?

Continue story:

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the pig was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer’s neighbor continued to shovel dirt on top of the pig, the pig would shake it off and take a step up.

Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the pig stepped up over the edge of the well and happily walked off.

So what did you get out of this story?

Here’s what I got…

Sometimes stuff happens that wasn’t planned, sometimes we get results we didn’t set out to get.

You must be determined, You must NOT quit, Life is made to accomplish those dreams. I attach my life to the way i’m living so if i’m not living my dream life and changing the world then what’s the point of living. Take your dreams seriously, they are your life and you truly live when you are living in those dreams.

The lesson of the story is this: We have 2 options.

1. To take everything as a learning lesson and use it as a stepping stone…

OR…

2. Let life knock us down and don’t get back up.

The choice is up to you, it’s all in your mentality.

The last thing I want you to do is read this post and think that you are a victim and you will have bad stuff happen to you all the time because that is not the point of this post. I know some people’s perspective will be that of a wallflower, they will say “Life happens to me” and it’s not my fault! it just happend.

Either you proactively create your world or it reactively creates you.

Less dirt will get thrown on you if you are proactive, I bet if that pig was in shape (proactive) it wouldn’t have fallen into the pit in the first place!!

No matter where you are in life, if you are in a reactive mode or proactive mode make a choice and decide to be as proactive as possible and when you need to be reactive to proactively react to it!

Life is what you make of it, your attitude, belief systems and actions are all that really matter.

Stop reading this post and do what you need to do………… NOW!
