My “College” was selling door-to-door.

Selling door-2-door was one of the greatest experiences of my life. It was the best/worst job I ever had.

A lot of people that I worked with resented that job, they hated it. They thought it was the worst thing since the last politician and well… at times it was.

Selling door-to-door or b2b on 100% commission isn’t the easiest way to make a living even if you do think you are a “Sales dog”

You never really sell until you sell to someone randomly walking down the road, sell to a college kid on campus and an elderly lady and everything in between.

Sales is essential in your businesses success. You absolutely need to learn how to sell in order to sell your products, services or business venture.

Sales is one of the only things out there that I would recommend getting experience to really learn well.

Most things I would say find a mentor and take the shortcut. Do it the quick and easy way, but I honestly have never seen a great salesperson who just read a book or two and was a magical sales genius.

It comes with experience, practice with different types of people.

Learning how to pump up the value, smash the price, be indifferent about the sale and fear of loss the prospect… The list goes on and on.

I want you to get sales experience.

Why?

Selling your product, service or idea takes that experience to sell it and become a profitable business so once again sales is something you as a business owner or business owner soon to be want to have in your arsenal.

I knew sales was important, most entrepreneurs that are extremely successful have had some type of sales experience in their background. The ones that don’t have sales experience may have partnered with someone who did.

It’s like the heart of your business, it pumps blood to all of the other organs to keep them alive.

If you don’t sell your business dies. Plain and simple.

Here’s something I want you to do.

Create your sales “pitch” for your product, service or idea and go and try to find your warm market and sell it to as many of them as you can.

Now this is pure stupidity, i’m not even kidding! you probably won’t even get that far.
They will probably treat you like a greasy car salesman that wants to take as much money out of their pockets as you can but this is okay.

Understanding and getting rejection is a good experience because it trains you to be immune to people saying no.

Saying “No” to you is no longer a big deal. You overcome that fear.

You then learn how to cope with it and move on to get the sales, the people that say yes to your offer.

During this exercise people will say no! all the time… more often then not they will say NO WAY!

BUT if you keep searching for that sale and continue to persist and let rejection slide of your shoulders then you can be a champ in sales and a champ in your business.

Feeling rejection and brushing it off your shoulders and moving on to finally get that sale is the best feeling in the world.

There were times when I worked for this company that I literally was hypnotized by selling! I got so into it and so good that I literally felt like I was selling everyone that I was talking too!

When you learn how to deal with people, sway buying decisions and let rejection go you can be a true champ in sales and sell more of your business than ever before.

Growth can be amazing when you really learn how to sell because you start to form partnerships to get your product or service into more prospects hands and your market share just continues to grow and grow.

Try this exercise out! Thanks for reading this! please leave your thoughts below and share this!

So I’ve been wondering… Is there a difference between residual and passive income?

is there really?

I see both of them as getting paid monthly without working.

I really don’t know if there is a difference…

what do you think?

I just want to know what someone thinks besides me!

anyways I have a story to tell you.

I ordered 2 bottles of pills the other day because my knee joints have been bothering me lately.

There was a special going on.

Your First month is free! all you pay is shipping!

Good deal right?

of course!

so i jumped on it because my knees need some joint support.

here’s how the phone conversation went when I ordered.

Hi i’m calling to get the joint pill blah blah etc.

the operator says okay.

she get’s my credit card, address and name.

next thing you know she’s upselling me another “complementary” product that adds on to the first product!

For only $3 more!

How can I say no to that!

The funny thing was is that the telemarketer told me about it and just added it to my order.

By the end of the order it was only $10.

It would have been $7 with just the one bottle.

I didn’t even say yes to the second one but it was such a good deal that i said ahh forget it…. it’s a good deal.

Are you up-selling your customers?

Are you down-selling your customers?

Are you cross-selling your customers?

If so then keep up the good work.

If not… Why not?

You realize that the average order of your customer can increase by up-selling them.

Your conversion rate can increase by down-selling because if they don’t buy your product they may buy the down sell.

and cross-selling is yet ANOTHER way to monetize your marketing system.

Keep the cross, up and down-selling in mind next time you sell a product or service.

OR… Just implement it into your marketing right now!

Have an awesome night everyone!

David,

OHH yeah! the facebook group broke the 500 mark today… looks like there are going to be more authority website and web 2.0 dominators out there than i thought!
