I thought of an idea for a blog post last night that could explain marketing on a deeper level to help you understand how important your marketing is.
A lot of times as marketers we think that marketing is just what we do to drive traffic to our website, generate leads and bring in sales.
It’s much more than that.
Marketing is the business strategy that brings in leads and sales yes… But what is every other area of your business?
What is customer experience? user experience?
What do your other products and services represent?
So if you look at marketing on a deeper level what is it?
Marketing is how the world sees you, how they perceive your company and brand.
So a lot of times you will find that the best marketers in the world are marketing and branding specialists because they go hand-in-hand.
Marketing is extremely important in your business because without it you wouldn’t have leads, sales or any revenue.
Here are a few tips to keep in mind when marketing your business if you really want to build a brand that has what’s known as the “midas touch” and speaks for itself. Midas touch brands speak for themselves and when you have the people talking your marketing is a wrap. It’s like taking candy from a baby at that stage!
* Focus on consistency – If your product or service is known to be the best at a certain thing then make sure it is the freakin best! Make sure you have a brand, products and services that serve the ultimate goal which is building up your brand and gaining market share.
* Focus on the customer – Most people focus on profits first and people second. Focus on the people that you are serving first and your profits will have to be greater. Richard Branson focuses on his employees > then customers > then shareholders. His philosophy is that when you take care of your employees they take care of your customers better. Once you have your customer take care of them and make sure that they are more than happy.
* Go above and beyond – The customer relationship is an important part in your marketing. It’s great if you can send a bunch of visitors to your website and convert but if you can’t take care of those people then you are a fly-by-night company. One thing I try to do in my business is always extend my time and help further than the customer (or person just calling) expected. I will continue helping people until they stop me because they might think i’m charging them extra and i’m obviously not. They are amazed at how much information I keep helping them with. An hour of coaching with me easily turns into an hour and twenty minutes.
* Find solutions in their problems – As an entrepreneur you should always be finding solutions. Searching out solutions is second hand nature to us! Look for problems that the customer/client is having and look for ways to solve them. One counter-intuitive thing to do is just solve the problem without asking them the problems they are having. You will see the problems they are having well enough without asking. Sometimes just by being quiet and listening you come up with the best solutions, more than pressuring someone to give you an idea to work on. Another thing to remember is to find solutions to your problems in your business. By plugging the holes the customers and employees will feel more confident in your businesses ability to produce and deliver results.
* Marketing is EVERYthing – Just remember that marketing is everything. You cannot escape it. What you email, blog or say to a employee in your business is marketing. Companies can literally be ruined because owners and ceo’s aren’t marketing the correct message to their employees. You are constantly marketing to both your people and the marketplace. By becoming better at marketing your vision and having high expectations in people you bring out the best in them. Remember that everything you think, say and do is marketing in your business whether it’s internally or externally.
So there you have it! EVERYthing is marketing!
Keep that in mind and make sure to be a consistent, transparent business owner who has high expectations and clearly portrays his/her vision to the people.
Never doubt yourself in front of anyone regardless of how you feel because when your doubting affects them it affects the way your business is run.

I have a coffee business and always have a great rapport with my customers. It really makes a difference when their Barista can remember their coffee order. It is true your customers love it when you are familiar with their needs. They start to tell people how fantastic your business is.
That's awesome Jenelle! Great rapport is always important and most definitely in the coffee business i'm sure! I'm sure you have great WOM for your business! Keep it up!
