Focusing On Value First In Business

Earlier this year I went to yanik silver’s Underground online seminar and met some really amazing people. Entrepreneurs from all walks of life. Some of the entrepreneurs had their “promotional business cards” with their sales message shouting on the card and tried to JV with you no matter what. Other people on the other hand were more reserved and were there to just network and get to know people and see how they could help.

Late one night after a lot of networking I met a guy named Jeremy Weisz who is a chiropractor in Chicago. Someone introduced me to him and we struck up a good conversation and started talking about health, business, online marketing and daily deal sites. He was a very smart marketer and I was very impressed with his well-rounded knowledge and we kept talking.

We got each others card and briefly connected maybe once or twice after we met but not too often. Then jeremy contacted me asking if he could interview me for his site Empire Steals. I said sure why not, I love interviews and I feel that I can give value to entrepreneurs through them so we got on a call and started recording. We talked about everything from business, to productivity to internet marketing tips and a whole lot more.

I realized shortly after the interview that this jeremy guy was freaking amazing. He barely knew me, we met once and he was spending several hours of his time to record this interview to give to his empire steals followers for free. It reminded me of what kind of entrepreneur I want to be and continue to be. Entrepreneurs that give first and lead with value are what make water turn into wine in the business world. It amazes me how much time and effort he put into this for free to promote me. First, I have to thank him and all other entrepreneurs that operate in this way.

Whether you believe in karma, good luck or reaping what you sow there is something too that principle. You get what you give multiplied over and over again. Your goal in your business should not be to sell more products, market better, sell better or even make more money. Sure those can be “goals” and you can work towards that but if you do not have value to exchange for the higher cash value that you receive then your goals are useless and will come back to bite you.

Jeremy reminds me of an everyday successful entrepreneur that doesn’t need the credit or cash. He just gives unconditionally.

I recommend that if you are struggling in your business, stuck in your business and want to break through to the next level start focusing on giving unconditionally. Give of your time, expertise and deliver more value. Stop worrying about how much money you make and start focusing on giving massive value and becoming more of an expert and person of value in your space and just watch where that will take you.

You never know who you will help and where that will lead. Many entrepreneurs in social media get book deals, TV contracts, magazine, radio and television interviews all for doing things that they do day in and day out. You never know what this can lead too. Don’t operate thinking you are giving just to receive too, just focus on giving and it will come back to you in the form of business even if you don’t get those “big deals”!

Focus on the day to day, focus on your business now, give value, educate, empower and your business will grow.

Are you selling sports memorabilia at the post office?

Hey Businessmarketinginternetmoney readers!

I like making new words… I’m sorry!

I have a little “business Lesson” or story to tell that will hopefully help you in your business.

Today I went to the post office to mail a letter and a package and I was waiting in line… Is it me or are there Always lines in the post office? I swear everytime I go in there is a line!

I don’t know… Doesn’t matter too much! Back to the story…

So I was waiting in line and I noticed that on the wall by the counter were a bunch of sports memorabilia items. Detroit Red wings, Detroit Pistons and yes our amazing football team the Detroit Lions! Each team had some plaque with coin or a certificate. Ya know… collectors stuff!

My brother and I got to talking about it, We wondered how many people actually buy these “sports memorabilia” products that are in the line while your waiting at the post office?

We started joking about it… Saying things like: “I can’t wait! I’m saving up my money to get that plaque down at the post office! Funny stuff like that. We started brainstorming what we would put in place of “sports memorabilia” products if we owned the postal office.

At first I was kind of stuck… I thought maybe just display stamps and have different kinds… ya know! Different designs! and then give them a discount if they buy a certain amount of stamp’s. That would be A-OK. But then we both got to thinking well what sells good in general retail locations. What is at the grocery store, gas stations, 7-eleven, and every corner store in America?

Impulse buy products.

Stuff like gum, candy, snacks, soda and what not.

We thought if the post office implemented that instead of “sports memorabilia” that they would get a lot more takers. A $50 sports plaque is not really an impulse buy for most people. So what’s the lesson…

Don’t sell Random products and Services to people only looking to do one thing in your business.

But If you do… Make it an impulse buy, something cheap that people won’t really think about because they do it all the time.

By thinking how businesses sales can be improved and how they can profit more you can see your business hopefully in a new light and deliver more value and be able to make more money from your current customer database.

Just a little food for thought.

Why watch winners win?

that was the question I asked myself today when I thought about watching the Michigan state spartans play indiana in an ncaa basketball game.

I thought to myself… “I know that they are going to win, so why waste time?”

It’s funny because I’m a big fan of the msu spartan basketball team.

But when you know the outcome it’s not too exciting. It would be more exciting to see a team that is not even ranked beat Msu, Uconn or north carolina.

It holds more attention.

It is more incredible and unexpected to see something unexpected happen.

Why do you think “rags to riches” stories are so widely known?

you have movies, books and just W.O.M. stories about rags to riches.

But when it comes to some of the average to rich people like bill gates, steve jobs and the google guys…

you only know that they were in college… they dropped out and built these massive companies.

I recently saw the movie slumdog millionaire and it was one of the most amazing movies that i have ever seen. the cinematography and story were amazing.

I highly recommend that you see the movie!

Back to the blogging! when something happens that is unexpected or highly unlikely it is a bigger deal!

think about it…

Movies like the pursuit of happyness… Notice the “Y” and movies like slumdog millionaire, 8 mile, get rich or die tryin, the list goes on and on…

when someone does something drastic it get’s attention.

something crazy and unexpected, it grows virally and when more people tell it and talk about it you get something called “social proof” which is helpful when it’s a movie or book!

So in your marketing be sure to show the drastic things that have happened in your business, in your life.

Make it outrageous!

Why watch winners win?

Winners always win!

If a loser wins… there is something new worth looking into in the mind of a prospect.

The loser doesn’t need to necesarrily be a “loser.” But maybe someone who is not known as a success.

So make sure in your writing, blogging, videos and marketing to “keep the game close”

That’s more intriguing than sharing all of your successes.

We all fail… We are all human.

A close game is more attention, more attention = more readers, and more readers = more growth through word-of-mouth… all the while making you more money.

I know that this blog post doesn’t make too much sense particularily to your business or industry.

But I’m sure you can think of some ways (be creative and innovative) to draw and keep attention through entertainment or more interaction…

That’s what web 2.0 is all about! and web 3.0 is going to be more about!
