Your Marketing has a message.

It say’s something.

And it speaks volumes about your business.

I urge you to ask yourself… “what is my marketing saying?”

It is a thought provoking question that should be asked quite often.

Here are a couple of “feelings” or reactions I get to some people’s marketing.

1. BUY ME! I’m the BEST!!!!!!!!!!! HEY! OVER HERE! WOOO WOO HEY! BUY Me!

Is your marketing shouting at the top of it’s lungs: BUY ME! ???

I sure hope not.

Let’s go over the most effective way to market your product or service (in my opinion)

Great Marketing has these things…

1. A clear message, no shouting!!!! just a clear message
2. Education, information that educates… (delivers value)
3. Updating information, keeps you up to date in that area.
4. Relationship building! connect! give personal info about yourself in relation to product or service.
5. A SOLUTION to your problem!

If you have  a clear message, that educates and updates… Builds a relationship and relates to them You have a winning recipe for Selling the prospect a solution to their problem.

Every time you write a new newsletter or blog post… remember to ask yourself…

What is my marketing saying?

about me. My company.

My products and services.

Your marketing is so important.

It show’s not only who you are but it’s a representation of your products and services!

So I have a funny story to tell.

I’ll call it the “drunk networking story”

I really do believe that this is an important lesson that a lot of people can learn from…

I was on facebook the other night, networking meeting new people and chatting… normal facebook stuff.

I get a chat from a guy asking me if I’m in the ad business.

I was kind of confused by his question, so I said yeah sort of.

He then said what do you mean.

and I said well… what do you mean by the ad business?

Kind of weird conversation so far right?

It get’s even stranger…

He proceeds to tell me how he works for this ad agency and it’s the largest one in the coutnry.

He then tells me his race and other weird facts.

I was confused.

I didn’t know how to respond.

I basically said… oh ok the whole time.

I’m a nice guy ya know!

as we near the end of the conversation he tells me he’s been drinking.

Hmm? i thought.

What a good way to make a good first impression.

The story of the drunk networker… LOL that could be my next best-selling book!

I have seen a lot of this “drunk networking”

You may not be drunk but do you come across as a drunk person would?

throwing out random facts, debt free company, solid company, better than them… etc. I think you get the picture.

Marketing your business without building the relationship at all.

Can I ask you a question?

when is the last time that worked?

when is the last time your sales pitch worked?

Learn to build the relationship and give value upfront first.

that value could be education, resources, people etc.

You’d be suprised at how many people message me information about their business etc.

Let’s get something straight.

YOU DON’T BUILD A BUSINESS BY SPAMMING!

You build a relationship by marketing!

What’s the difference?

One is “HEY GO CHECK THIS OUT, PEOPLE are quitting their jobs in a week! you’ll be a millionaire by next week!”

and the other is… Hey, thanks for the friendship… I like your website or blog and i like what your doing.

I see that your starting to learn more in this area… I made a group over here, or i have a newsletter or I have a blog about that here… I am sure you’ll find something useful there that should help you out in some way or another…

That second one, that’s how you go about it.

Give them value.

Show value, How can I help you?

Everyone’s favorite radio station is WIFM…

I- In it

F- For

M- Me

be the person to give value and you’ll see that your business will grow by building those relationships.

It’s the future of marketing… I’ll call it relationship marketing.

It’s one thing that Gary Vaynerchuk over at http://winelibrarytv.com does very well.

He educates and has had personal contact with thousands of his blog readers…

When’s the last time you’ve done that?

Remember to build a relationship and deliver value before you try to sell anything.

also remember that anytime you deliver WAY more value than the other person…

they’ll owe you… and that’s usually a good thing!

It’s better to be owed than to owe!

yesterday I got out of the shower and walked into the hallway and my mom was standing there…

I was like wait what..

HEY MOM!

she lives 2.5 hours away from me and I don’t get to see her that often.

I didn’t even know that she was coming to visit!

so we talked for a bit then we went to drive the new car she is considering getting.

It’s a chrysler sebring convertible.

It was like 50 degrees out but… We had to roll with the top down!

We went downtown detroit and walked and talked by the Detroit River overlooking the windsor skyline in canada and seeing a lot of awesome things in Detroit.

The three main casinos… MGM, Greektown, and motor city casino.

The fox theatre, Comerica Park and Ford Field… OHH yeah and the GM building.

We saw detroit and had an awesome time talking and catching up.

This morning/afternoon we went to bahama breeze for lunch… it’s a tropical restaurant with palm tree’s and lot’s of lushness in the restaurant.

It’s an awesome environment to relax and get a bite to eat.

The first time I went to this restaurant was when I was in florida and I loved it.

We talked about her business.

I am going to be helping her design her website/blog and newsletter.

She’s going to start online marketing in her business.

after lunch we went to a fall festival (thingy) I really don’t know what it was to be honest… a bunch of people, apple cider, donuts and booths with stuff for sale…. we’ll call it a festival LOL.

then we went and got some ice cream and talked more about life, business, relationships and the importance of them.

I realized this weekend that I need to succeed online.

NEED to.

Why?

For not only me but for my family.

Here’s why.

My Mother has worked her whole life to get where she is now.

She had cancer TWICE! had lymes disease and is recently Divorced.

She has been through so much and I love her and appreciate her so dearly.

She grew up poor… was neglected basically by her parents and she deserves way better.

My Mom deserves the million dollar mansion on the hill, or on the ocean.

I need to succeed for her so that she can succeed in this as well.

If I succeed it not only changes my life but it changes all the people around me.

So cherish your relationships today.

Because first and foremost relationships are most important, especially with your family.

and Remember when you succeed you not only change your life for the better but you also change the life of all those around you that you love and care for dearestly.

So next time you feel lazy, don’t feel like working towards your goals and “actually living your dreams”

Remember all of the people in your life that matter to you.

Realize that you’ll change their life when you change yours.

until next time make your relationships count, don’t fight and argue… Life is too short it’s not worth it.

It’s not worth being quote on quote “right” but ruining or damaging that relationship.

The better relationships you have the better you are in business.

That’s one of the reasons my mom’s business is so successful.

She builds good relationships.

Period, that’s it.

Build good relationships and nourish them and you’ll be on your way to wealth in no time.
