I read this book a few years ago and should have blogged about it by now because it rocks and you gotta read it! The 4-hour workweek is the new rich. It defines the new rich, the new lifestyle. The new way to live that is both mobile and wealthy.
Tim Ferris is the author of this book and you can get to know him better on twitter at @Tferriss.
I love this book because it helps you understand how to literally…
“Escape the 9-5, Live anywhere and join the new rich”
I agree with Tim’s thinking about life and living, it wasn’t meant to be slaving away in a cubicle. Cubicles are the worst “innovation” ever.
People are made to explore the world, enjoy living new experiences and grow by learning from everything around them.
In this book there are 4 steps to dumping your 9-5 and living the new rich lifestyle.
1. Definition – I love this because by defining what you want and defining what’s best you create a vision that’s powerful. Remember that “Everything popular is wrong” and that just because everyone is doing it doesn’t mean it’s the “right way” or “best way” most times it’s not. Define your vision and understand what your passion is and how you want to live and grow your business without slaving away at a desk for 20 years. It’s easier than that! Trust me I know!
2. Elimination -In this part of the book Tim takes you and shows you how much junk you have in your life. You have way too much information and things that cloud your vision. By eliminating useless information and ignoring what doesn’t matter you free up time and allow yourself to stay focused on your vision and what’s really important.
3. Automation – Automation is KING. You can set up a business then run it from anywhere with a cell phone and laptop. If can create a business, grow it and automate it you allow yourself to have time to enjoy life and learn new things… travel and see the world!
4. Liberation – Liberation is awesome. In this part of the book tim take’s you and shows you how to escape your job, embrace the mobile new rich lifestyle and he often shares with you common mistakes that the new rich make. This allows you to shift into the new lifestyle with ease and transition into a life filled with passion and purpose much easier.
Tim Ferriss wrote this book not only because it sounds great to him but because he actually lives it.
He works approximately 4 hours a week, and if you were to ask him “What do you do?”
He might answer…
“I race motorcycles in Europe”
“I Ski in the Andes.”
“I scuba dive in Panama.”
“I Dance tango in Buenos Aires.”
He LIVES it.
The thing I love about this book is that it’s not like any other wealth creation or get rich book.
It’s not about just business and money, it’s about living life to the fullest.
What’s the point of becoming rich if you can’t enjoy it right?
In this book Tim not only shares with you how to grow and automate a business that gives you time and money to travel and enjoy life but he also shares with you so many secrets to allow you to break out of your current 9-5 habit and embrace a new liquid rich lifestyle.
There is so much life out there to be lived and I must say that Tim knows that and shows you to the best of his ability how to do it in this book!
Pick up the book and read it, I know that you will get a lot out of it and be glad that you picked it up as well!

Nice straight to the point review without giving too many spoilers, the updated version is out in bookstores now too…I'm excited to revisit his work, it was truly a life-changer. We often sacrifice our passions for the sake of what we feel is “normal” or “expected”. Honestly we just need to give ourselves the ability to think up and write out our “dream lifestyle”, figure out what it would take financially to live that way, and develop a rational plan to get there using the resources available to us through improved technology and an increasingly small (and digital) world. When you have your dream in site it acts as a guide to every-day decisions. Do what you love, leverage it and find a way to monetize and you're golden. Easier said than done and it takes a lot of front-loaded work before you get to 4 hours but Tim Ferriss has intrigued all of his readers' curiosity by not only motivating us to make our desires real, but showing that it really can be done with an open mind and smart work.
I agree Alex!

THAT is so true!
Get your dream lifestyle vision… find what you need to make it happen then make it happen! there is so much opportunity out there!
People with excuses need to wake up! lol
Thanks for the comment!

David, during the Christmas travels I started reading this book. Buying things in the airport is normally a financial regret … it took very little to realize airport prices are worth reading 4 hour work week NOW! Tim Ferriss has a great writing style that keeps you reading and of course for anyone who wants to trade in the J.O.B. it's a great read!
Funny you said this “It’s not about just business and money, it’s about living life to the fullest.” and earlier on your Facebook, this is what I was saying about your post about getting rich quick. It's time!
Thank you David!

I didn't get a chance to read the whole book. I was reading it around New Years but had to get it back to the library. It's a pretty good book as far as I read. It gives a blueprint on how to outsource, and similar things so you can focus on the important.
Elimination was my favorite. It recaps a few rules of doing more with less time, most of these rules I had considered before but never put them to use until this month.
Overall it's not a bad read, not the best I've ever read but one of the better ones. I prefer E-myth Mastery over this book.
Cheers,

You gotta finish it Clinton! it's a great read! it's funny because I think that I actually haven't finished E-myth! lol… so we both have opposite reading patterns or something! lol
Take care!
